Why Rabbits

Rabbits have proven to be nearly the perfect permaculture animal. They do not smell. They are quiet, entertaining, and their manure is perfect for the garden. Beyond that meat and angora fibers make them excellent additions to your life. Over the years, they have proven to be invaluable.

My daughter, Maya, is a partner in this rabbitry--and it is a great learning experience for her.

Mini-Lops

Our family enjoys these rabbits very much. They make an excellent beginner rabbit. They have an excellent personality. In Germany, from which they originate, they are used as a meat rabbit.

Does:

Hazel (broken chestnut, born 5/09)

Bucks:

Along with our bucks from Richardson's Rabbitry (Birch and Rowan), we've added Coal, a son of Mo, which we purchased from Hobart and Judy Todd.

French Angoras

After not having one for company and to fuel my fiber addiction, I delved back into the world of angora rabbits. This time I opted for French Angoras.

Lily (pearl sable, born 1/10/09)

Also in the herd:

Somerhill Rhys (at 4 months)--He is something special!

Rabbits for Sale

We have a few mini-lops available. There is a black doe and a black buck from our March litter. We also have a buck and a doe that are ready to go into a "retirement" home--though they are only two years old. Please contact us if you are interested.
